Replaced 25% of the all-purpose flour with white whole wheat, and added 5g more whole milk to compensate. I brought it to my boyfriend's to have with dinner, and it was lovely. ("Excellent soup-mopping-up bread," was his verdict.) This is a good loaf for when I want to use my sourdough starter, but I don't have a day to lovingly tend to it— I mixed this dough at 8 AM and had it out of the oven by 1 PM.
Divided this into 4 loaf pans and baked for 30 mins. Unlike the recipe I usually use (which is also a KAF recipe, but older) this one called for brown sugar and white whole wheat flour. I enjoyed the fanfare of sharing/ gifting mini-loaves — feels more intentional than sawing off half a 9x5 loaf for someone.
Yellow cake with malted chocolate cream cheese frosting. Cake recipe from King Arthur Baking, cream cheese frosting from Claire Saffitz (added malted milk powder in place of some of the powdered sugar). I had to make the cakes twice, and the decorating left frosting all over the kitchen. But so very worth it.
